What To Eat For Healthy Nails

I like to say that you are what you eat and because of that you should  eat healthy if you want to look  healthy. Food can influence the way your skin, hair and nails look and often when we eat junk food and other „bad“ foods our skin gets dull, our hair loses its life and we start feeling ill and without energy.

Not only our skin and hair are influenced by what you eat – you nails change, too! That‘s why I am going to show you what to eat to make your nails strong, healthy and white – the perfect nails!

Zinc

Add some zinc to your life if you want healthy nails and hair! Zinc is a component of many of the enzymes in the body, which regulate the body’s ability to make new proteins which help to make your nails strong.  You can find zinc in cashews, green beans, lean beef, lobster, oysters and soybeans.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is good for your eyes, your hair, immune system and, of course, nails! When taking vitamins you should take into consideration that you shouldn‘t overdose with them because the effect will be the complete opposite!  You can find   Vitamin A  in apricots, broccoli, cantaloupe, carrots, Cheddar cheese, egg yolks, mangoes, oatmeal, spinach and sweet potatoes.

Protein

We have talked a lot about how important are proteins for your health and your appearance. Proteins are important for providing the building blocks for growing strong hair and nails. You can find them in chicken, eggs, lean red meats, lowfat dairy, nuts, seafood, soybeans and whole grains.

Omega-3

Omega-3 is another important ingredient you should put in your diet if you want healthy nails. The three active ingredients—alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid—are all essential fatty acids which help for keeping your skin hydrated, you hair shiny and you nails – strong. Omega-3 fatty acids are usually found in eggs, flaxseed, fish oil, mackerel, salmon, sardines, spinach, tuna and walnuts.

Biotin

Biotin improves the health of your nails and prevents them from splitting and breaking. Biotin, along with zinc, is the prefect combo to treat hair loss and weak nails. So, if you have any of these problems, feel free to eat bananas, beans, cauliflower, eggs, lentils, peanuts and salmon to cure them immediately!
