Top Ten Teen TV Shows

Teenagers are definitely one of the main target groups of TV shows: there are so many TV shows made for them that it is hard to choose which to watch! However, we’ve created a guide with the 10 most successful and most interesting teen TV series, according to our taste:

The OC (2003-2007): This TV show combines a lot of classic motives: Ryan is in the role of Cinderella, Seth gets the girl of his dreams, but there is also a lot of drama. The OC is among many shows about the life of rich people, showing how money and wealth are not enough to make on happy. Definitely one of our favorites!

Veronica Mars (2004-2007): This show tells the story of a teenage girl who is an incredibly tallented detective. Her cunning mind, together with her being pretty, make her a character to remember! Of course, there is a descent amount of love stories for the romantic souls. Even though the TV show ended, recently there was a movie made based on it, but we’ve heard it doesn’t live up to what the series had started!

Greek (2007-2011): An incredibly funny and somewhat relatable show about a college freshman who joins a fraternity which is far from being full of rich and spoiled kids. It talks about love, friendships and what you should take out from the college experience. It is sad that it hasn’t had new episodes since 2011, but all four seasons are worth the watch!

One Three Hill (2003-2012): The show follows the eventful lives of a group of teenagers living in North Caroline. Since it was aired for so long (9 years!), it traced the story of their lives until they were out of high school and jumping into adulthood. The more dramatic character of the series and the strong emotions make the story a very likable one.

Gossip Girl (2007-2012): This is definitely the most successful TV show which incorporated the growing influence of social media: something that had not been done before! The TV show tells the story of a few very rich teenagers, living in the Upper Eastside of New York City, and their families. Gossip Girl will leave the memorable image of Chuck Bass, the bad boy that every girl would fall for, the smart but extremely revengeful Blair Waldorf and the glamorous Serena Vanderwoodsen. Even though at a certain point you might get a little confused because of all the drama and intrigues, it is definitely worth the watch: if not for the plot, then for the fashion!

90210 (2008-2013): Another story about privileged teenagers and the clash between strong characters. A Kansas family moves to Beverly Hills with their two children, Annie and Dixon. The topics of love, friendship, principles, career and mental health even appear in the show.

Pretty Little Liars (2010- ongoing) : One of the atypical teenage TV shows since it’s more in the thriller genre. When a teenage girl disappears, her four friends try to find out what has happened to her, who is responsible for the threats they are receiving and what secrets all the people around them are hiding. The plot twists are definitely worth it and again, each of the main characters is dressed amazingly!

The Vampire Diaries (2009 – ongoing): A more supernatural teenage TV show. The Vampire Diaries no doubt delivered three favourite celebrities to the world: Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. A young girl is in the center of the story, being torn between two vampire brothers. A little fear, a little adventure and a great love story: that is why The Vampire Diaries is a great show!

Glee (2009 – ongoing): This is the musical addition to our list. Glee tells the story of a group of teenage misfits which start a musical theatre club in their high school. The TV show is great for musical fans, presents awesome interpretations of well-known songs and also has a great message sometimes: no matter how weird you are, you will always find your place under the sun, if you look well enough.

The Carrie Diaries (2013-2014): This TV show emerged as a prequel to the absolute hit Sex and the City. We see some of our favourite character Carrie, in her younger image and it gives some explanation to how her life in New York started. However, maybe the best thins about the TV show  are Sebastian Kydd and colorful 80s fashion!
