Halloween Candy Corn Layer Cake

Halloween is only after two weeks and now‘s the time to think about the party you‘re going to throw! If you want to stand out and throw the best party, prepare something different and delicious, something everyone would love. Something like a cake!

Here I‘m going to show you how to prepare the candy corn layer cake that will make all of your guest lick their fingers and want more!

Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 white cake mix + ingredients called for on the box
  • Orange and yellow food coloring
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature (softened but not melted)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 8 cups powdered sugar (about 1 bag)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 bags of candy corn M&Ms

So, let‘s get started. First, you should cook the cake mix like it‘s shown on the box. Every cake mix needs different ingredients so mix it according to the brand you bought. Divide the batter into three – these will be the layers of your cake. Now, color the batter – one should be yellow, one – orange and one should stay white. Bake for around 20 minutes on 350 degrees in a 9 inch pan.

Your cake layers are ready, now to work on the frosting. Mix the butter, the shortening and the vanilla together until you get a smooth mixture. After that, add the powdered sugar little by little and make sure you don‘t stop beating. Add the heavy cream and beat until the mixture gets fluffy.

Now you want to wait for your cake to cool completely so you can add the frosting. You will use the frosting to stick the layers together, so start with the yellow layer, then add some frosting on top and put the orange layer. Over the orange layer put some more frosting and the white layer. Cover the entire cake with the frosting (you should have enough) and then spread the M&Ms on top. You can make a pattern or just scatter them all over. Or, you can buy some candy corn and cover the whole top with it – you decide just use orange, yellow and white and the decorations to go with the candy corn theme!
