DIY Therapies for Beautiful Feet

Summer has come and with it more and more parts of our bodies are revealed and that means there is more work to be done on our appearance. As we take the sandals out of the drawers and start walking on the streets wearing them, we need to think about the way our feet look too.

Here are a few ideas of how to do your own little SPA treatments at home:

  • To calm your feet after a long and stressful day (or after long walking), dip them in a mix of warm water, olive oil and lemon slices. This treatment will refresh and relieve them.

  • Dissolve equal quantities of English salt, sea salt and sodium bicarbonate (used in baking powder). This is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells and smoothing your soles. For a little more moisture you can add a little olive oil or almond oil (two amazing, multifunctional ingredients!).

  • Another way to soften your feet is to mix equal quantities of milk and green tea and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes.

  • Don’t forget to exfoliate them at least once a week, so that you remove all the dead skin cells and rough skin. You can make your own scrub from 1 mashed avocado and sea salt or from sugar and olive oil. You can also add a little lavender oil for a pleasant smell and luxurious feel.

  • Whenever you exfoliate your feet, you need to moisture them afterwards. Use shea butter or coconut butter because they are great for very dry skn. Also , you can add to them a few drops of peppermint and tea tree essential oils which have refreshing and antibacterial functions.

  • A foot mask? Really? Yes! Simply mix fuller’s earth (the white clay which is used for cosmetic purposes) and rose water until you get a smooth mash. After that add equal parts cinnamon and clove powder. Apply the mixture on your feet and wait for 20 minutes. After that wash the mask with slightly warm water.
