Common Lies about our Hair We have all Heard


Beauty myths appear more and more with the constantly growing influence of Internet. People with no professional background simply state what their impressions are, others repeat it and we end of with lots and lots of people who believe in…lies. Myths about hair are among the most common ones. The truth is that it is very difficult to state something that is true for all people: every organism has its own needs and issues and a personal approach towards hair care is required.

If you pull one grey hair, two come back.

Simply not true, so don’t be afraid to pull it out: you won’t end up with hundreds of grey hairs!

If someone has flakes in their hair, they have dandruff.

First, you need to determine if you have and oily scalp and dandruff or a dry scalp. It is most likely simply dead skin which is a consequence of a dry scalp. Be careful not to confuse the two

conditions since using anti-dandruff products which supress oil production might lead to even bigger scalp issues.

You need to trim your hair every 6 weeks if you want it to grow.

First of all, hair grows from your roots, not your ends. The purpose of frequent trimming is to make your hair appear healtier. Some people can trim every four months and not have a problem. When you see your hair is getting more damaged, it’s time to cut at least a little bit!

You should brush your hair 100 strokes a day to keep it silky and shiny.

Actually, too much brushing may lead to breakage of your hair, so don’t overdo it: 15 to 20 brushes a day may be a lot better.

Shaving makes your hair thicker. When you shave, the thinner part of your hair is removed and the root, where it is wider, later appears through the skin. Be careful mainly with hair on your face: don’t pluck it too much and definitely don’t shave it!
