Autumn Fruit and Vegetables – a Must for Your Health


The leaves are getting yellow, the wind is colder and the rain is visiting us almost everyday – it seems the autumn is already here. Unfortunately the previously hot days are replaced by colder ones, and we are all vulnerable to colds and flu. If you want to boost your immune system and protect yourself from these unpleasant conditions, it is best to take some prevantive measures.

What they are? Just fruit and vegetables full of vitamins and minerals, which will preserve your health. It is time to check what the autumn has to offer us.

1. Apples

Apples are quite popular throughout the whole year, but they are actually a typical autumn fruit. They look tempting in their green-red-orange shades, sweet or sour – able to satisfy every taste. They are anti-oxidant rich and contain large quantities of Vitamin C, which boosts the immune system. And that`s exactly what you need during this season.

What`s more – apples decrease the risk of cancer, as well as prevent the appearance of cardio-vascular diseases, due to a substance called pectin. Pectin is pretty beneficial for the digestion, too.


Nothing reminds me of autumn more than a big, round orange pumpkin. Apart from a lovely Halloween decoration, they are a great source of Vitamin A. It is improves our vision and fights bad cholesterol. Pumpkins also contain beta-carotene, which fights against free radicals. It is also rich source of minerals like copper, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. Don`t forget the pumpkin seeds, too – they are tasty and they also contain lots of substances, beneficial to your health.


Remember how much you despise it when you were a child? Well, growing up you actually realized it is not that bad, right. Actually apart from its taste, we need to focus on the benefits it brings. it is an indispensable source of phytonutrients, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances. Beets is a good source of folic acid, potassium and magnesium, too. It is also a highly recommended food during pregnancy. Definitely include it in your menu, especially during the autumn and during the winter – your body needs it.

4. Pears

Melting, soft and sweet … mm, who does not like them. They are a great source of fiber, which helps maintaining normal blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol. Pears also provide antioxidants, vitamin C, copper, and boron, a nutrient that helps the body retain calcium. As you can see your favourite dessert is not only delicious, but also healthy.

In any case, consuming fruit and vegetables is great for your health. Never replace them for a burger and fries.
